Just Desserts
A common misspelling of the phrase “Just Deserts”.
While the two phrases are pronounced exactly the same, “desert” with the emphasis on the second syllable means something that one deserves, rather than an extremely arid expanse of land. “Dessert”, on the other hand, is a sweet dish consumed after a meal
For a few months I worked for a dessert restaurant, spending most of my time serving ice cream and cleaning tables. Although making desserts was fun, during this time I experienced unfair treatment from a number of the staff members and was unable to do anything about it due to this stemming from one of the managers. There was something fascinating about the contrast of these brightly coloured desserts I was making and the reality of how difficult the circumstances I was working under were.
